Keeping safe

We have worked hard to maintain our high standards of hygiene, health and safety over the past 40 years and never has it been more important than now. We can confirm that we have complied with the ‘COVID-19 Secure guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19’. All members of our team have completed training in COVID-19 prevention steps and social distancing, and will apply an enhanced approach to cleaning and disinfection throughout the hotel. We have also been certified as 'Good to Go' by VisitEngland.

Due to the developing nature of the situation and guidance, our procedures and operations will be continuously reviewed and promptly updated when required. The information that we are sharing with you about how we will operate may therefore be subject to review and change without notice. We politely request the support and assistance of you, our valued guests in this newly changed environment, so that together we manage the COVID-19 health crisis and ensure that Beryl continues to provide a welcome retreat, where our guests and team can feel comfortable and safe.

If in the unfortunate event, you or your household experience COVID-19 symptoms such as a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change to your sense of taste and smell, we must ask that you follow the Government advice, and remain at home. 


The Beryl Team

 

  • Team members will be required to stay at home if unwell, and must follow official guidance on self-isolating as required.

  • Our team will have their temperature checked upon arriving at work.

  • We teach all team members to follow a clinical standard hand washing routine.

  • Our team will be implementing enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols.

  • You can be confident that we hold ourselves to the same top cleanliness standards back of house as we do in our guest spaces, and we’ve taken steps to ensure that our employees observe social distancing too.

  • We will be wearing face masks at all times when in the presence of guests.

  • We have considered the unfortunate but possible eventuality that a guest at our hotel could experience symptoms of COVID-19. We can confirm that we have implemented clear procedures that will be followed in that situation, to protect the well being of other guests and our team.

Our Guests

 

  • We politely ask that any guests who are required to undertake self-isolation, household isolation or overseas travel related isolation remain at home in line with the Government advice.

  • Guests may have their temperature taken upon arrival by using a contact less laser thermometer. Unfortunately, if your temperature is above 38 oC, we will not be able to welcome you and we will invite you to rearrange your stay.

  • All guests must observe the social distancing requirements at all times and wear face masks in the property, except for when they are in their guest rooms or when eating and drinking.

  • As we will be removing our guest directories from bedrooms, we will provide any pertinent information in a welcome letter to you. We will remain on hand by telephone for any and all queries.

  • Guests are advised to use the sanitising station before entering dining/reception rooms and to wash their hands upon returning to their bedroom. If at any time you require additional amenities, please let us know.

  • To help us avoid the unnecessary handling of cash, and inline with our policies, we will take payment for the full amount of your booking 48 hours before check-in, any extra costs incurred during your stay will be charged to the same card via our secure system on departure.

  • We ask that you do not invite any non-residents to Beryl during your stay.


The House

 

  • We will not be able to offer any help with your luggage or belongings during your stay.

  • We will contact guests in advance of arrival to obtain check-in information and we will prepare as much as possible in advance of your arrival, in order to reduce the time spent completing check-in at the hotel reception.

  • In order to reduce the number of guests in the property we now only offer 6 guest rooms for general bookings. All 12 rooms rooms will only be available for whole house bookings.

  • You can be confident that cleanliness, hygiene and safe food and drink handling have always been high on our agenda.

  • All public areas have been thoughtfully rearranged with furniture spaces to allow proper distancing.

  • The stair lift will be available for disabled guests only.

  • We have designed a comprehensive enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedure  which individually covers all areas of of the house.

  • Public spaces will be cleaned and disinfected throughout the day, in line with our enhanced cleaning programme.

Guest Bedrooms

  • We promise that our experienced housekeepers will have taken care and time to ensure that your bedroom has been meticulously cleaned and fully disinfected, following a detailed disinfection procedure and ensuring extra attention to high-touch areas, such as TV remotes, taps and telephones.

  • On occasions we may have to move you to a comparable room to the one you booked.

  • We have removed any non-essential items in the guest bedrooms, this includes items such as decorative cushions, throws and magazines.

  • Where tea and coffee facilities are present, these will of course be properly cleaned and disinfected between arrivals.

  • We will not provide housekeeping services during your stay unless you are staying for more than 3 days, if so we will work whilst you are out of the room.

  • We’ll be happy to provide clean towels and amenities to your door as you wish.

  • Due to the COVID-19 restrictions currently in place, there may be some limitations to the facilities available.

Dining & Drinking

  • All public areas have been thoughtfully rearranged with furniture spaces to allow proper distancing.

  • Breakfast buffets are no longer available. Instead items will be served to your table, and we will ask you to pre-order the night before. Breakfast will be served in the dining and reception rooms from 8 am-9.30 am.

  • Drinks will be available to order from our bar from 3 pm - 10 pm. We respectfully ask that you only consume drinks purchased on the premises.

  • We strongly advise you to make a local dinner reservation prior to arrival. Please see our Eating Out section under Food & Drink for recommendations.

  • We regret that at this time we are unable to allow any takeaway or delivered food to be consumed on the premises.
